Business Controller Italy

Atlante is NHOA’s new Global Business Line dedicated to build the first EV Fastcharging Network enabled by renewables, energy storage and 100% grid-integrated. The Atlante project is the result of the partnership between NHOA – which develops and invests in the network being owner and operator – Free2Move eSolutions, in the role of supplier of charging technology, and Stellantis automotive group.

Brief description of the role:

As Business Controller you are the analytical co-pilot of the CEO of Atlante Italia. Reporting directly to the CEO of Atlante Italia and working closely with the Group Controlling function, you support the company in turning business data into strategic decisions. You gather and interpret operational, commercial, energy, and CAPEX data, challenge assumptions, and do not just provide answers — you ask the right questions, anticipate problems, and bring analysis, scenarios, and actionable recommendations. This is not an accounting, closing, or data-entry role: standard reporting is hygiene, kept accurate and timely, but it is not the core of the job, which is to understand the business and help the CEO steer its decisions.

You run detailed analyses of company performance and build ad hoc business cases to test new scenarios and drive higher, more sustainable profitability. You give the CEO of Atlante Italia and top management a proactive interpretation of financial and operational matters, and you help allocate capital well — which sites and investments to build, fix, or prioritise, based on their profitability and returns (IRR, payback). You design and evolve the KPIs and dashboards that steer the business, challenge business cases with independent analysis, and support pricing and partnership decisions. Your proactivity, business judgement, and the gravitas to challenge choices when the numbers require it help Atlante invest well and decide faster.

Core Responsibilities:

• Act as the analytical co-pilot of the CEO of Atlante Italia: bring sharp, concise analysis and recommendations that drive decisions, asking the right questions and not only answering them;
• Run detailed analyses of company performance and build ad hoc business cases to explore new scenarios and drive higher, more sustainable profitability;
• Analyse the profitability of the business at the level that matters — site and cohort unit economics, utilization, and margins — explaining not only the variances against budget, forecast, and prior year, but why they occur and what to do about them;
• Own the capital-allocation analysis: CAPEX actual vs budget, time-to-energization, and the IRR and payback of investments, to help prioritise where capital is deployed (which sites to build, fix, or divest);
• Design, build, and evolve the KPIs and dashboards needed to steer the business, not only to measure it;
• Actively contribute to the planning, budgeting, and forecasting process, challenging assumptions rather than only consolidating them;
• Provide active support on case studies and ad hoc projects for the CEO and top management, offering a proactive interpretation of financial and operational matters to inform business decisions;
• Work closely with other departments to ensure the consistency of business strategies, and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial practices, tools, and processes;
• Proactively identify, quantify, and share risks and opportunities, bringing recommendations, not just flags;
• Prepare periodic reporting (kept accurate and timely, but not the core of the role).

In carrying out these tasks, the Business Controller will comply with the guidelines of the Company and the Group and with any applicable policy or regulation, managing multiple overlapping projects with a strongly collaborative, team-oriented approach.

• A business-partner mindset, not an accountant's: reasons in terms of return on capital, prioritisation, and decision support;
• Proactive, with independent insight: anticipates questions and concepts rather than waiting to be guided;
• The gravitas to sit with the CEO, a Country Manager, or the parent company and challenge a business decision with the numbers in hand;
• Comfortable with the incomplete data and evolving tools of a scale-up, and able to build them;
• Strong analytics paired with sharp, concise communication.

• Gross Annual Salary: starting € 45.000, according to experience, plus benefits
• Location: Milan office - hybrid remote
