The Transaction Monitoring Analyst will help protect the integrity of a global digital asset platform by identifying and mitigating financial crime risks.
You will investigate transaction monitoring alerts across both fiat and cryptocurrency activity using a risk-based approach.
The role combines financial crime analysis, blockchain investigation, transaction monitoring, and regulatory compliance.
You will assess unusual account and transaction behavior, identify potential ML, TF, sanctions, and fraud risks, and **escalate** high‑risk cases appropriately.
Working closely with AML, Compliance, Product, and other teams, you will contribute to reporting and improvements to monitoring controls.
You will also deepen your expertise in blockchain transactions, virtual currencies, KYC/AML/CTF requirements, and evolving regulatory expectations.
This is a fully remote role within a fast-paced global fintech environment, with preferred working hours aligned to LATAM or APAC time zones.

Accountabilities

• 
  
• Develop and support transaction monitoring rules and algorithms designed to identify money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions, fraud, and other compliance risks using a risk-based methodology.
  
• Analyze and investigate alerts involving fiat transactions, including wire and non-wire activity, as well as cryptocurrency deposits, withdrawals, and on-chain and off-chain transactions.
  
• Assess unusual transaction activity and account behavior, determine potential risk exposure, and **escalate** urgent or high‑risk alerts in line with established risk appetite.
  
• Assist with periodic and targeted reporting by identifying and analyzing anomalies related to money laundering, terrorist financing, and sanctions risks.
  
• Conduct initial assessments of referrals involving unusual transactions, documentation, account activity, or other relevant information.
  
• Analyze unusual documentation and information and communicate findings to transaction monitoring and investigations leadership.
  
• Adjust risk parameters where appropriate to help maintain exposure within defined risk appetite.
  
• Work closely with AML analysts, investigators, Product teams, Compliance leadership, and other departments to address financial crime and transaction monitoring risks.
  
• Liaise with relevant teams and users to obtain additional information required to assess potential ML, TF, sanctions, or fraud concerns.
  
• Evaluate cases, communicate findings and decisions to relevant case‑stream leads, and **escalate** matters to senior investigations leadership when required.
  
• Support the identification and implementation of process improvements related to KYC, AML, CTF, and sanctions policies and procedures.
  
• Maintain knowledge of virtual currencies, blockchain activity, documentation requirements, account behavior analysis, and evolving financial crime regulations.
  
• Participate in compliance training and consistently apply applicable KYC/AML/CTF and sanctions policies, laws, and regulations.
  

Requirements

• 
  
• Professional experience in compliance, financial crime, transaction monitoring, AML, or a related field within the financial or fintech industry.
  
• Good understanding of AML, KYC, CTF, sanctions, and related regulatory requirements, including Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD).
  
• Basic knowledge of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency transactions, with the ability and interest to deepen this expertise.
  
• Experience using blockchain analytics or transaction monitoring tools such as Chainalysis, Elliptic, TRM, or similar platforms.
  
• University degree in a relevant discipline.
  
• CAMS or CBP certification is an advantage.
  
• Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and decision‑making abilities, with sound judgment when evaluating unusual or potentially high‑risk activity.
  
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, consistency, and documentation quality.
  
• Ability to identify patterns and anomalies across transaction, account, and supporting documentation data.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain findings clearly to different stakeholders.
  
• Ability to source, interpret, and assess documentation and information presented in different languages, formats, and forms.
  
• Self‑motivated and proactive, with the ability to take initiative and work effectively in a remote environment.
  
• Proficient with common IT and productivity tools, including Chrome, OpenSearch, Google Docs, Gmail, and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases, priorities, and deadlines.
  
• Preferred working time zones are LATAM or APAC.
