V2G Systems & Validation Engineer - Bidirectional Charging Systems

In the context of passenger car vehicle development phase MICLA is looking for engineer who will work in the role of V2G System and Validation Engineer for Bidirectional Charging Systems.

Bidirectional Charging V2G Systems & Validation Engineer is responsible for the development, integration and validation of electric vehicle charging functions, including AC/DC charging, Smart Charging, Plug & Charge, ISO 15118 communication, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), Vehicle-to-Home (V2H), and Vehicle-to-Building (V2B) capabilities and bidirectional energy transfer functions, ensuring compliance with automotive, grid and cybersecurity requirements.

The role acts as a key interface between vehicle engineering, battery systems, power electronics, charging infrastructure providers, utilities, and energy service partners to ensure seamless integration of bidirectional energy services within the vehicle ecosystem.

More in detail, she/he will be responsible for leading or supporting the following activities:

• Define system requirements and technical specifications for bidirectional charging and V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) energy transfer functions.
• Develop and maintain feature roadmaps for Smart Charging, Plug & Charge, and energy management services.
• System design activities related to charging architecture, energy flow management, and grid integration.
• Ensure compliance with relevant international standards, including ISO 15118, IEC 61851
• Collaborate with Battery Management System (BMS), On-Board Charger (OBC), Power Electronics, Connectivity, Telematics, and Energy Management teams.
• Define charging and V2G use cases, system requirements, interfaces, and performance targets.
• Support vehicle integration, testing, validation, and issue resolution activities.
• Test infrastructure development
• Infrastructure simulator maintenance and update
• Vehicle testing
• Support project management activities, technical reviews, and cross-functional decision-making processes.

Technical requirements

• Master’s degree in Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Vehicle Engineering.
• Experience with Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), Vehicle-to-Home (V2H), or Vehicle-to-Building (V2B) projects.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity requirements for connected charging systems.
• ISO 15118, IEC 61851
• Familiarity with AUTOSAR, CAN, Ethernet, and automotive communication architectures.
• Experience with MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) tools.
• Knowledge of battery degradation mechanisms associated with bidirectional charging.
• International experience in automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, charging infrastructure providers, or energy companies.
