Embedded Software Lead

Italdesign is looking for an Embedded Software Lead to join the Electric/Electronics Development Team. The ideal candidate is a senior engineer, driven and self-motivated by passion for cars, with strong technical leadership and a target-oriented mindset, capable to guide a team and face complex challenges in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design, development and integration of embedded software for automotive HPCs, zonal controllers, MCUs and SoCs;
• Defining and governing service-oriented software architectures based on AUTOSAR Classic and Adaptive standards for Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) platforms;
• Guiding and mentoring a team of embedded software developers and architects, coordinating priorities, deliverables and technical decisions;
• Writing and reviewing software requirements, functional specifications and architecture documentation in compliance with Automotive SPICE (A-SPICE);
• Interfacing with stakeholders to discuss system and software architecture(s) through workshops and design meetings;
• Issue tracking, defect analysis and driving corrective actions across the software development lifecycle;
• Defining KPIs and analyzing technical risks, development progress and architecture maturity to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for changes;
• Supplier steering and coordination.

Key requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in automotive embedded software development (Tier1/OEMs);
• Solid experience developing embedded software on GNU/Linux (Yocto/BSP);
• Strong knowledge of AUTOSAR Classic and Adaptive standards and of Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA);
• Proven experience with Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) platforms integrating High-Performance Computers (HPCs), zonal controllers, MCUs and SoCs;
• Strong knowledge of at least one programming language, such as C, C++, Python;
• Knowledge of embedded systems, real-time operating systems and hypervisor/virtualization concepts;
• Experience developing in compliance with Automotive SPICE (A-SPICE) and with software configuration management;
• Proven leadership and team coordination skills, with strong decision-making and complex problem-solving abilities.

Preferential requirements

• Knowledge of operating system concepts, such as process management, memory management, file systems and power management;
• Knowledge of Android/Android Automotive OS;
• Knowledge of automotive standard protocols and networking, such as CAN, Automotive Ethernet and SOME/IP;
• Experience with architecture modelling tools, such as Vector PREEvision and DaVinci Developer;
• Experience with requirements and ALM tools, such as Codebeamer, DOORS or Rational Team Concert (RTC);
• Experience with version control and continuous integration, such as Git;
• Knowledge of functional safety, diagnostics and security principles for automotive systems.

Education: : Master’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer or Automation Engineering or similar

Language skills: Fluent knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory. Knowledge of Italian and German would be appreciated

Workplace: Turin (TO) with availability to travel in Italy and abroad

Compensation package

Collective Labour Agreement (CCNL)

Italian National Metalworkers’ Collective Labour Agreement.

Base Salary (RAL)

The gross annual base salary offered for this position will be no less than € 36.000

Final Compensation

The final compensation package will be determined based on the candidate’s professional experience, competencies and qualifications, and on the applicable role level, in line with the company’s internal compensation framework. The final salary may therefore be higher than the minimum amount stated above.

Variable Compensation

Eligible employees will participate in the company’s variable compensation programmes, subject to role eligibility and the applicable company policies in force at the time of employment. Details will be discussed during the recruitment process.
