Job Description:

For our Leonardo Helicopters Division, we are looking for a/an equipment design specialist.

The Tooling Office deals with the design, procurement and management of production equipment necessary for helicopter assembly, ensuring compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements. It manages the entire life cycle of the equipment, from requirements analysis to prototyping, up to validation and subsequent commissioning in production.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

• Analyze technical requirements, production needs and applicable regulations for the requested activities.
• Develop preliminary designs using dedicated design software (CATIA V5, CADRA).
• Interface with suppliers for the technical definition of the necessary equipment, when required.
• Issue purchase requests and collaborate with the Procurement department to ensure the correct assignment of activities, in compliance with technical requirements and planned deadlines.
• Manage and archive technical documentation through the SAP system.
• Verify the effectiveness and conformity of the designed equipment with respect to the defined requirements, collaborating with technical offices and end-users.
• Maintain relationships with equipment suppliers and coordinate, where necessary, external design activities.
• Monitor the equipment manufacturing process at suppliers, ensuring compliance with quality requirements and delivery times.
• Guarantee, in collaboration with the Safety department, the correct application of safety regulations and company quality procedures.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

• Knowledge of the main components and systems of a helicopter.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
• Knowledge of the structural characteristics of the materials most used in the aeronautical sector (steel, aluminum, carbon fiber composite materials, etc.).
• Knowledge of applicable sector regulations (EASA, ENAC, ISO standards, safety and quality requirements).
• Knowledge of CATIA V5 and CADRA design software.
• Propensity for innovation, flexibility and openness to new technologies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Engineering / Technical Diploma
• Previous experience in Production Engineering / Design
• Interest in the technical sector; aptitude for resilience; predisposition/aptitude for human relations and interpersonal communication; spirit of initiative; aptitude for teamwork; aptitude for learning to use specific software.
• Availability to travel abroad or in Italy.

How does the selection process work?

Following the collection of applications, the CVs most in line with the required qualifications are evaluated and identified. The selected candidates will undergo an introductory interview with the Human Resources team, focusing on motivation and aptitude, followed by a technical in-depth interview with the Business. At the end of the process, the person receives feedback, both in case of a positive or negative outcome.
