Munich Re Italy is seeking a Senior Property & Engineering Underwriter to join our Facultative team in Milan, Italy. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise, market knowledge, and commercial acumen to underwrite complex Property and Engineering risks, develop strategic relationships with clients and brokers, and contribute to the sustainable growth and profitability of our portfolio. As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in portfolio steering, business development and market-facing initiatives, while working closely with experts across Munich Re's global network to deliver innovative solutions and create long-term value for clients and the business.

Your Job

• 
  
• Independently underwrite and assess complex Property and Engineering risks, including premium calculation and the definition of terms and conditions, in line with underwriting guidelines, internal directives, strategic targets and client strategies.
  
• Lead complex negotiations and build strong, trust-based relationships with clients and brokers, acting as a senior technical and commercial counterpart.
  
• Take ownership of key client accounts, ensuring high-quality service while identifying, evaluating and developing profitable new business opportunities.
  
• Take full responsibility for assigned contracts and portfolios, including exposure monitoring, accumulation assessment, documentation quality and timely implementation of agreed terms.
  
• Perform in-depth portfolio, performance and profitability analyses, identify trends and corrective actions, and contribute to class-of-business reporting and portfolio steering.
  
• Represent the team at internal and external seminars, workshops and market events, while contributing to knowledge sharing, training and mentoring activities.
  
• Contribute to concept and strategy development within your area of responsibility, providing senior input to business planning, target setting and controlling activities.
  
• Lead or contribute to special assignments, including local and Group-wide projects, international working groups, portfolio reviews, technical initiatives and market-focused activities.
  

Your Profile

• 
  
• University degree in Engineering or another relevant scientific discipline.
  
• At least 10 years of underwriting experience in Property and/or Engineering risks within the insurance or reinsurance industry.
  
• Strong technical expertise in risk assessment combined with a solid understanding of market dynamics and client needs.
  
• Demonstrated ability to underwrite complex risks and make informed decisions within delegated authority.
  
• Proven track record of building strong broker and client relationships while delivering sustainable profitable growth.
  
• Strong analytical mindset with an interest in data-driven decision making and digital underwriting solutions.
  
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  
• Collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented approach to working in a dynamic international environment.
  
• Fluent in Italian and English.
