Overview

Our client, an international insurance and reinsurance company, is looking for an IT Project & Business Relationship Manager for a one-year contract in Milan, Italy. You will be responsible for managing complex IT projects and serving as the point of contact between the business and stakeholders in Italy and other regions. The IT Project Manager / BRM ensures alignment between IT initiatives and business objectives, driving successful project outcomes while enhancing collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day management of all project phases to ensure deliverables are completed on time and on budget. Coordinate project activities with IT project team members and business owners/stakeholders. Track performance against objectives and develop corrective strategies when objectives are not met.
• Create, manage, and update project charters, schedules, risk management plans, communication plans, project budgets, gate reviews, and other project management documentation.
• Work with project team members and management to secure resources and funding.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders to define project scopes and schedules. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, processes, and data sources. Translate these needs into documented requirements and functional specifications with business analysts and architects.
• Provide regular status updates and maintain metrics to provide transparency on team performance.
• Manage vendors and hold them accountable for their delivery activities.
• Communicate with executive leadership to provide project risk analysis, status, and requirements that may impact strategic direction.
• Ensure that projects comply with audit requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders, acting as the primary IT contact for business teams in Italy and other European countries.
• Assist business leaders in formalizing and managing IT demand, prioritizing technology projects and lesser demands. Ensure solutions support strategic and tactical objectives.
• Ensure technology projects provide maximum return on investment and deliver IT performance results to business managers (maintenance and operations, portfolio of projects, initiatives, tools, processes).
• Proactively identify opportunities for IT to provide innovative solutions and drive value creation. Advocate for the business within IT, ensuring stakeholder needs are met.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of project management experience for complex application, data integration, and AI-driven technology projects.
• Detailed knowledge of project management and SDLC methodologies.
• Experience managing mid-sized to large IT integration and AI-enabled projects independently.
• 3+ years’ experience within Commercial Insurance.
• Strong facilitation skills to manage cross-functional discussions and align IT and business priorities.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong business relationships, ensuring IT deliverables align with business objectives.
• Strong management skills in a matrix environment, fostering collaboration and accountability.
• Ability to translate complex business needs into actionable IT deliverables, including AI-based solutions.
• Experience applying waterfall, agile, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
• Knowledge of AI technologies, data pipelines, and automation tools; multi-disciplinary IT knowledge with deployment experience.
• Experience using Project and Portfolio Management tools (e.g., MS Project).
• Proficiency in managing vendor relationships.
