For a leading client operating in the financial services sector across multiple European markets, we are seeking a Senior Operational Risk Specialist based in Milan.

The role is designed as a senior leader and an individual contributor within a non-financial (purely operational) risk scope, without direct people management responsibilities, and involves regular interaction with senior stakeholders and top management at an international level.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the definition and continuous improvement of the company’s risk management framework, ensuring consistency in policies, procedures, and methodologies across all functions.

Ensure risk management activities are aligned with applicable regulations and internal governance standards set by senior leadership and relevant committees.

Oversee risk identification, assessment, and reporting processes, ensuring accurate and timely communication to key stakeholders.

Collaborate with Business and Support Functions to assess risks and define appropriate mitigation strategies.

Analyse complex data to produce insights, support decision-making, and manage escalation of critical issues when required.

Act as a key point of reference for senior stakeholders on risk-related matters, contributing to risk evaluation and decision processes.

Support the strengthening of risk awareness across the organisation, promoting best practices and a culture of continuous improvement.

Your Profile

Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Ideal background in highly regulated environments, such as Oil & Gas, Engineering & Infrastructure, Telecommunications, or more broadly project-based/contract-driven businesses.

Around 7–8 years of professional experience in international contexts.

Familiarity with financial markets, operations, and/or IT systems would be considered an advantage.

Sound understanding of risk management frameworks and methodologies.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective presentation abilities, with the capacity to convey complex risk topics clearly and concisely.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage at all organisational levels, including senior leadership. xlwpduy

Proficiency in English, with daily use in a professional environment.
