Role focusWe are looking for individuals who can help build a thriving open-source community and drive the deployment of Canonical products across a broad range of devices and use cases. This role encompasses leadership of the product and go-to-market in the Smart NIC and ToR switches sector, leveraging Ubuntu, Ubuntu Core, OpenStack, Kubernetes and Juju to address security, device management and orchestration challenges.
ResponsibilitiesLead Ubuntu and Ubuntu Core integration as the OS of innovative Smart NIC productsShape the development roadmap for Smart NIC and ToR switches features and supportEngage with the Smart NIC and ToR switches ecosystem and leading customersEnable commercial success and lead product directionDrive go-to-market strategy and executionOversee the product lifecycle from conception to delivery, ensuring alignment with market demands
This role requires an analytical storyteller with a strong message, and an understanding of challenges in leveraging Smart NIC and ToR technologies with Linux. We prefer experienced professionals with software engineering management experience who want to become business executives and entrepreneurs to define product strategy and drive engagement.
What we are looking for in youExceptional academic results at high school and universityUnderstanding of Linux and the wider open source software communityPassion to write about technologies and the tech landscapeA strong work ethic with interests aligned to the open source movementFor senior positions, product management experience in the software industryDeep understanding of hyperscale and enterprise data centre architecture and challenges related to high parallelism workloads (HPC, AI and Big Data)Strong knowledge of network protocols and their implementation at hardware, kernel and library levelsUnderstanding of computer architectures: x86, ARM, RISC-VFamiliarity with Smart NIC and ToR software, standards and the market, including trends, ODMs, silicon providers, cloud service providers and other key playersExperience with Linux networking distributions and packages such as SONiC, DENT, FRRouting, VyOS, ONL, or CumulusPractical experience with large-scale network design, implementation and operationCuriosity and a habit of continuous learningA strong sense of ownership, problem solving and the ability to innovateExcellent communication skills in English (verbal and written)Ability to travel internationally up to 4 times a year for company events (up to two weeks per trip)
Nice-to-have skillsFamiliarity with particular verticals (e.g., Telco, Finance, Industrial, Automotive)Familiarity with the technology ecosystem including Silicon, IHV, ISV, ODM/OEMs, cloud service providers and channelFamiliarity with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker containers and SnapsFamiliarity with embedded and connected device technology and ecosystems
